The British envoy’s husband in New Zealand recently mocked the Wellignton Bucket fountain that was loved in the country, the famous and polarized water features that adorn the center of the country’s capital.
Bringing to Twitter, Toby Fisher, the husband of the British Commissioner to New Zealand Laura Clarke, said the installation was “the most crappiest fountain ever”.
Following his social media posts, his wife, MS Clarke, away from his comments. He quickly joined to say that her husband’s opinion did not represent his views or positions of the British government. “The bucket fountain is a very loved part of Wellington’s legacy,” he added.
The fountain was installed in October 1969 and was originally called “Water Mobile”. This removes the flow of uncertain water through its bucket, spilling and sprinkling most of the water outside the fountain and to pedestrians and spectators on windy days.
Mr Fisher’s statement has largely met with good stabs, including from several parliamentary members. “You dare now Toby!” Commenting on members of the national parliament and former opposition leader Judith Collins. “Fight me,” answered the Minister of Climate Change James Shaw.
The fountain also has a loyal defender. “Visit on Tuesday. Growing playing around the fountain. You do not have a simpler inner child’s desire,” said a Twitter user.

Others, on the other hand, agree with Mr. Fisher and say, “I don’t even know why the strange thing was mentioned in the travel guide. I was very disappointed when I first saw it. It was only ugly and when you passed you very often became a little wet when you try the social distance from others in Cuba Street. “
After his tweet lifted the local residents’ hackle, Mr. Fisher also apologized for mentioning the “Crappiest Ever” fountain. In the following tweet, he wrote, “I realize this tweet has led to a significant concern among the Wellington community. I apologize. I was wrong scoke. This is an automatic correction error. I mean ‘the most classy’,”
Meanwhile, Mr. Fisher’s statement is only the latest in the long history of controversy about the bucket fountain. According to The Independent, actor Elijah Wood is famous for urinating in a fountain while in New Zealand filmed ‘Lord of the Rings’. Some people were also reported to talk about “badness” and complained about the technique that made frustration.
