Meg Lanning and the late Shane Warne have been included in the Queen 2022 birthday list for their contribution to cricket and society.
Warne, who died in March this year due to a heart attack in Thailand, has been recognized for the achievement of his cricket where he finished as the most productive Legspinner in the international cricket and his contribution outside.
The late Shane Warne is an honorable officer (AO) of the General Division for Distinguished to Cricket services as players, role models and commentators, to the public through charity initiatives, and for philanthropic contributions,” said a statement from Ca.
Lanning, Australian Women’s Captain, has been awarded a member of the General Division for “Significant Services for Women’s Crickets at the elite level.”
Lanning is the winner of the World Cup six times and was also named the 2014 ICC Women’s T20 player and the best player this year in 2015 among other achievements.
In addition to this duo, former Australian women’s test captain Muriel Picton and Ca’s Hall of Famer Doug Walters have also been awarded members (AM) from the General Division “for significant services for cricket at the elite level.”
