Mo Bus, the Urban Transportation Transportation Authority Service Service, the Urban Transportation of Odisha, has been recognized by the United Nations as one of the 10 Global Recipients of Annual Public Service awards for 2022, reported on Wednesday (June 22).
Public transportation services have been recognized because of its role in “promoting gender responsive public services to achieve SDG (Sustainable Development Objectives)”, said the United Nations.
Among the other winners of this year’s award, announced by Liu Zhenmin, the United Nations under the Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs during the Virtual event to commemorate the UN public service day (celebrated on June 22), is a public service initiative from Thailand Thailand, Brazil , Canada, Ireland, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Ukraine.
Recognition for Odisha
The United Nations recognition said that “problems” is that “bus services in the city of Bhubaneswar need improvement”, as a result “the majority of people use private vehicles, two-wheeled vehicles and rickshaws to travel instead of taking public transportation”.
As a “solution”, the Odisha government in 2018 “reorganized public transport services in the city to provide an integrated, reliable and inclusive public bus service system. Mo Bus, recorded, has included “Time-Time Technology such as direct tracking, travel planner and e-ticketing”, and an e-rickshaw system called ‘Mo E-Ride’ has been introduced as the last mile feeder service.
The “impact” is that 57 percent of city passengers now use the Mo bus, said the United Nations. Mo e-Ride is expected to reduce pollution by 30-50 percent. Also, “40 percent of the MO bus conductor is women and 100 percent of e-ride drivers are women, transgender people, and people from disadvantaged communities,” recorded by the United Nations.
Bus Mo Service
According to the Crut website, the Mo bus service was launched on November 6, 2018 to ensure “transformation of urban public transportation scenarios in the city and inland through the use of smart technology, benchmarking services, and customer satisfaction”.
Crut plans to introduce 289 buses in three phases with 200 new buses and repair 89 old buses, the website said. This service is proposed to be immediately expanded to Cuttack, he said.
These buses are designed to integrate smart technology such as free on-board Wi-Fi services, digital announcements, surveillance cameras, and electronic tickets. Crut said that to increase women’s participation in the workforce, and to make female motorists feel safer, it is committed to ensuring that 50% of the MO bus guide (conductor) is a woman.
Mo airconditioned bus fare starts from RS 5 and rises to RS 70; Non-AC tariffs from RS 5 to RS 55.
Another bus award
In 2019, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs gave a special award to the Bhubaneswar City Bus Modernization project, known as the Mo Bus Service. Quote, given during the 12th India-Cum-Cum-Expo 2019 urban mobility conference in Lucknow, reads: “This project is an encouragement for the trust of people in the use of affordable intra-city services that offer the potential to alleviate congestion and mobility on time to the commuter . “
In 2020, Mohua awarded India’s 13th urban mobility award for Crut for “innovations carried out in urban transportation during Covid-19”, and in 2021, the 14th urban mobility award in Odisha as “the country that has implemented urban transportation Best Best Urban Project Over the previous year “.
UN Public Service Award
The United Nations described the award of public service as “the most prestigious international recognition of excellence in public services”. This is intended to appreciate “Creative Achievement and Contribution of Public Service Institutions that lead to more effective and responsive public administration in countries throughout the world”.
“Through the annual competition, the UN Public Service Awards promote the role, professionalism and visibility of public services,” he said.
The UN Public Service Day celebrates the values and virtues of public services to the public, highlighting its contribution in the development process, recognizing the work of public servants, and encouraging young people to pursue careers in the public sector. The first award ceremony was held in 2003, and since then the United Nations has received “more and more submissions from all over the world”.
