Choice of French President Footwear Emmanuel Macron during his trip to London ahead of the funeral of the queen caused a pouring comments – and disinformation – online.
The 44 -year -old leader was photographed on Sunday running in front of the Westminster Hall with his wife Brigitte where the late Sovereign Britain lay in the state before his funeral on Monday.
Instead of the usual coat and formal black shoes, Macron is described as looking very relaxed, wearing sunglasses and – which surprised some observers – the dark blue coach.
Triggered by critical comments online, the French Talkshow Radio channel RMC hosted the debate on Monday whether the Streetwear view on the President on such occasions was “surprising”, with presenter Estelle Denis insisted there was “clothing code to be respected”.
The Le Figaro newspaper calls them “dispute coach”.
Other media outlets seek to improve the narration that developed on social media, fanning the right-away politician and the president’s critic, that Macron had used a coach for the funeral of the queen, which took place on Monday.
“No, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron did not pay respect to the queen in the coach,” said an article from the National TF1 channel.
When the French leader and his wife paid respect in front of the coffin on Sunday, the two had turned into more formal clothes, with Macron in a black suit and a black tie.
The couple wore the same formal clothes for the burial of the state in Westminster Abbey where they arrived by bus along with other leaders.
However, the photos attract attention to Macron’s expensive tastes – the potential for accountability for a man who is mocked as “president of rich” by critics and after the summer where he is depicted using jet ski on his vacation.
The coach in question was made by the Luxury French fashion brand J.M. Weston, according to Le Figaro, and sells for 570 Euros ($ 570) a pair.
