Russian military action will stop "soon" if Ukraine meets the requirements: Kremlin

LONDON: Russia demanded that Ukraine stop military action, change its constitution to obscure neutrality, recognizing the Crimea as a Russian region and recognizing the separatist republic of Donetsk and Lugansk as an independent region, a Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov told Reuters that Russia told Ukraine that it was ready to stop her military action “for a while” if Kyiv fulfilled his condition.

It was the most explicit Russian statement as far as the requirements he wanted to apply to Ukraine to stop what he called “special military operations” in Ukraine, now on 12th day.

Peskov said Ukraine realized his condition. “And they were told that all this could be stopped soon again.”

In the issue of neutrality, he said: “They must make a constitutional amendment according to which Ukraine will reject any purpose to enter any block. This is only possible by making changes to the constitution.”

The Kremlin spokesman insisted Russia did not try to make further territorial claims in Ukraine.

“We really finished the demilitarization of Ukraine. We will finish it. But the main thing is that Ukraine stopped his military action. They must stop their military actions and then no one will shoot,” he said.

“They must make the amendment of their constitution according to Ukraine will reject any purpose to enter any blocks. We have also talked about how they must recognize that Crimea is the Russian region and that they need to recognize that Donetsk and Lugansk are independent countries. And that’s all. It will stop for a while, “Peskov told Reuters.

Reduction of Russian demands came as a delegation from Russia and Ukraine prepared to meet on Monday for the third round of talks aimed at ending the Russian War against Ukraine, an invasion was launched on February 24 which has caused the worst refugee crisis in Europe since World War Dua and provoked anger around the world.
